Since ecologist Dr. Steve Murphy began targeted research in this place. He said it is clear that save the species from extinction today depends from conservation of the localities spread birds. Location nature reserve remains a mystery, because scientists are very concerned about the extremely small number of parrots and their detection could threaten the conservation of species. Birds can threaten a variety of factors, such as fire, wild predators (including cats) and humans.

The creation nature reserve plan to spend 5 million dollars, of which 400 thousand – to Action plan the conservation of this species. Financing the preservation of these unique birds received from the NGO "Save the Bush legacy" (Australia), the government of Queensland, private charitable contributions from organizations and individuals.

One of the major threats to species was the lack of knowledge about the parrots and their distribution.
